Seasonal Memberships & Moorings

Seasonal Memberships

Bucks Harbor's deep water, full protection and quick access to prime sailing grounds make it one of the most desirable harbors in Maine. There are presently 365 moorings in our Harbor and Town Regulations prohibit the addition of any new moorings. Overnight parking is yet another problem. There is only a tidal Town landing (no parking) and the Bucks Harbor Yacht Club (whose membership is currently closed). Therefore, many boats use Bucks Harbor Marine as a base for their boats. We call these folks our "Members".

We charge an annual fee for each Member boat regardless of whether that boat has a mooring or not. However, we often rent several of our transient moorings on a seasonal basis at an additional fee. Membership in Bucks Harbor Marine provides:

Use of Heads & Showers
Permit parking
Overnight dockage
Dinghy tie-up
Water & Garbage Drop
Workshop
Fuel discount
Crane use

Transient Moorings

Bucks Harbor Marine maintains and operates 26 transient rental moorings. This is one of the largest mooring fields available in Penobscot Bay. All of our moorings meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards and can hold boats up to and including 70 feet in length. Moorings are set in depth ranging from 17 feet to 35 feet with most being in the deeper water. Those boats exceeding 70' in length can be accommodated overnight at our fuel dock (21 foot depth).

All moorings are inspected and maintained each year using only heavy duty American-made mooring chain.

Rental of a Transient Mooring includes use of heads, showers, fresh water and garbage drop-off.

Our moorings tend to book completely during the peak summer months and those skippers requiring a mooring should try and make prior reservations either by VHF Radio or Cell Phone.

We do not accept reservations during Hurricane Alerts but accept boats as they arrive.

Mooring Service

Bucks Harbor Marine currently maintains and services 125 moorings in Bucks Harbor and is one of those authorized to do so by the Town of Brooksville, Maintenance includes the mandatory Annual Inspection and repair/replacement of mooring components as needed. We also place and retrieve winter poles and summer mooring buoys. Our Ship's Store also carries replacement components for all types of moorings placed in the harbor. We have extensive experience in the specification of moorings appropriate to Maine mooring conditions, and will build and place a mooring system for you in our waters in conformance with local ordinances and regulations.
